The Wedding Party
Bride's Attendants
Kelly first met Josh Hayes in 1998 when they both were "teaching" at Holden High School. After a bit of a rough start, they soon bonded over baseball, stupid teenagers, evil bulldogs, and Aaron Sorkin television shows. Josh currently works for the Lafayette County C-1 High School in Higginsville, Missouri where he teaches Social Studies and coaches Girls' Basketball and Boys' Baseball. When not sitting at home all alone in his white boy pain, Josh enjoys working out and watching television.
It's entirely possible that Goldie Edwards is Kelly's soul mate, or possibly twin separated nine years before her birth. They first bonded over their similar classroom theatrics, and their friendship deepened over many teaching conferences. For a while, they both wreaked havoc on the hallowed halls of CMSU's Counselor Education Program. Goldie teaches 8th grade English at Holden Middle School in Holden, Missouri. She and her husband Bob are parents to four kids and grandparents to the most beautiful, precocious little girl ever. Just ask her.
Groom's Attendants
The bonding of Anthony and Jeremy Rugenstein was a strange one, focusing on air drumming, illicit pre-teen smoking, and bad plays-on-words. But what did they know? They were, like, 12. The terrible twosome first met in Royal Oak's Talented and Gifted program--that was surely a misnomer--and found many shared interests. After graduating with honors from Dondero in 1995, Jeremy attended Grand Valley State University in Allendale, MI. A long and twisted road eventually led him to Michigan State University where he completed his Music Education major in 2002. He is currently warping young musical minds as the director of Bands for Oak Park High School, in Oak Park, MI. He is a proud drum corps veteran and as a former corpsman and instructor can often be found during the summer following select corps (Go Scouts!).
Carrie Reese is yet another veteran of the T.A.G. program and a '95 Honors grad of Dondero High School. She bucked convention by heading (slightly) south to study and nurture immature undergrads at the University of Detroit-Mercy. Her 2000 matriculation eventually led to her current position: bringing math to the masses at Oak Park High School. She is an absolute fanatic for the Detroit Red Wings and the Barenaked Ladies, having seen them even more times than Anthony (but just barely). Someday, she and Anthony will collaborate on a book detailing the link between stupidity, people, and video stores.
Carrie and Jeremy are engaged to be married on February 14, 2004, in Royal Oak, MI. They are wonderful people and wonderful friends, and will make a wonderful wedded couple. Isn't that wonderful?
The Officiant
Kelly and Anthony are pleased that her uncle, the Rev. Michael Kirkpatrick, has agreed to officiate their ceremony. Mike, Kelly's father Dewayne's youngest brother, and his wife Marion pastor the Flatwood Assembly of God church in Ben Wheeler, Texas. They are the proud parents of Kenneth and Christi Kirkpatrick and grandparents to little Jackson Carter.
