Tourism

Kansas City is a beautiful city with lots to see and do. The Convention and Visitors Bureau has links to great restaurants, hotels and travel deals for those of our guests who will be making the wedding a weekend destination. Visitors unfamiliar with all Kansas City has to offer may wish to take the Photo Tour of the city. Not to be missed at Christmas time is the Country Club Plaza, a unique shopping center that is spectatularly lighted for the Holiday season.

Other attractions you may wish to visit include . . .

Air Travel

For those of our friends and family coming from considerable distances to share in our special day, we provide the following air travel information.

The Kansas City Internation Airport lies north of the city and is served by many major airlines. The week between Christmas and New Year's is a busy travel time, so many guests may wish to seek out lower fares through discount services such as Expedia, Orbitz, Travelocity, and Priceline. Airlines specializing in discount fares, like Southwest, may also be a good place to look for low-cost fares. Guests traveling from the Metro Detroit area may wish to look at Northwest Airlines, currently the only airline making non-stop flights from Detroit to Kansas City.

Train

Kansas City is served by The Southwest Chief, one of Amtrak's finest and fastest trains running. The Amtrak station in downtown Kansas City has recently relocated to the stunningly restored Union Station. Union Station has many attractions of its own, including a wealth of exhibits and events and Science City, and is located directly across Main Street from Crown Center.

Lodging

Guests from out of town needing accomodations near the wedding site may wish to stay at the Courtyard in Blue Springs, Missouri. Kelly and Anthony have reserved a block of rooms there for their guests. If you'd like reservation information, please contact Kelly or Anthony for the reserved rooms, or contact the Courtyard yourself for reservations.

Rental Cars

For many of our guests who will be arriving in Kansas City by air or by train, renting a car will be necessary to get to the Gardens and the reception site. Most major rental companies have outlets at the Kansas City International Airport; only Hertz serves the Amtrak station downtown.

Additionally, many members of the wedding party and friends of the bride will be in the area and would be happy to help shuttle people from their hotels to the ceremony and reception sites. Just drop Kelly an email or a phone call and she'll make sure you're taken care of.
